Yoga poses are great to strengthen and relax the body, but there’s a lot more to Yoga than that. Derived from the Sankrit word “yuj” which means “to unite or integrate”; yoga is a 5,000+ year old Indian body of knowledge. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing exercises, yoga poses (asanas) and meditation.
It is a gentle Hatha Yoga style based on the Sivananda lineage, integrated with Iyengar Yoga and Vini Yoga aspects as well. It is targeted to beginners and intermediate levels. No previous experience is needed. We will practice asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing techniques), balance, Lymphatic Yoga exercises, relaxation and meditation. The benefits of this class when practiced regularly are many, such as body alignment, strengthening, stretching, joints and back pain relief, improvement in sleeping, relaxation, sense of wellbeing and contentment and inner peace, among others.
